The winch drum is driven directly from a Brevini gearbox, hydraulic motor and load valve combination. The brake, being failsafe, always defaults to on should, for any reason, the hydraulic supply is lost, or the control joystick is in its centre position. The non-drive side housings a bearing and a slipring. The Slipring is not within the scope of supply.

The 4 slice bi-directional joystick PVG mounted on a pedestal controls all the hydraulic features of the ADCP LARS, slewing, extension, speed of winch in both the forward and reverse direction and the manual override for the Level wind.

The Level wind is hydraulically driven from an ADAN motor. The Level wind is PLC controlled and is automatic with a manual override. The Level wind can be adjusted to accept a variety of cable diameters if required. The winch has been designed with a maximum SWL of 500 kg and a maximum outreach of 3 metres from the rotation centre of the ADCP LARS and has a slewing angle of 135°. HMI displays cable/wire tension and line measurement via a Straightpoint wireless shackle.
